Your client will need to close the account. There are different options available to them depending on the type of account.
To close or merge a home loan account your client will need to contact us via live chat in their Macquarie Online Banking.
Note: For Offset accounts, if your client is no longer proceeding with an application, the application will need to be withdrawn before we can close the account.
Closing or consolidating a home loan account
To support your client through this process, our Personal Help Centre has more information Consolidating their home loan accounts.
Before your client closes a home loan, it's important to remember:
- Closing a fixed rate account will usually incur a break cost
- If your client chooses to permanently reduce their home loan facility’s limit, they’ll need to complete an application to borrow more funds again
- This is different to discharging a home loan. If your client wants to repay and discharge their home loan, see Discharging your client’s home loan
- If your client has an offset package, they’ll need to keep at least one variable home loan account open to keep their package
- If there is an offset account linked to the loan split your client is closing, they may have the option to link to another variable loan or close the offset.
