What should I consider before consolidating my home loan accounts?

Before you start a live chat to consolidate your home loan accounts, it’s important to remember:

  • We’re unable to transfer a limit from a principal and interest account to an interest only account without a top-up application being approved. If you’d like to increase the interest only portion of your home loan, please use live chat to discuss your options.
  • The balances following consolidation can’t exceed the facility limit.
  • The limit on each of your account/s following consolidation must be above $20,000.
  • Changes to a fixed rate account may incur a break cost. These may be substantial.
  • We can only transfer limits between accounts within the same home loan facility.
  • You won’t be able to access your accounts online once closed so you’ll need to download any previous statements you need before this occurs.

How does consolidating home loan accounts impact repayments?

After we’ve consolidated your home loan accounts, your repayments may change.

  • For home loans with a BSB starting 182, your repayment amount will change if you are adjusting the limit of an account.
  • For home loans with a BSB starting 183, your repayment amount will change if you are adjusting the balance of an account. 

If your repayments change, your next repayment will be for the original amount, and the subsequent repayment will be for the new amount/s.

How do I request a consolidation of my home loan accounts?

You can consolidate or merge your home loan accounts by getting in touch with a Macquarie consultant using live chat to request a balance and/or limit transfer between your home loan accounts. 

If you’ve paid your balance to zero, your loan account won’t automatically close, so you will need to use live chat to arrange the account closure.
