How to prepare your device

To set up the Macquarie Authenticator app on your device, all you need is a registered Australian mobile number, your Macquarie ID and password.

Follow the steps below to set up and verify Macquarie Authenticator on your device.

Step 1: Download the Macquarie Authenticator app

The Macquarie Authenticator app is free to download from your app store – just search for ‘Macquarie Authenticator’. Or you can use these links:
 

 

 

Step 2: Link your device to your Macquarie ID

Linking your device means you will automatically receive push notifications from Macquarie Authenticator on that device, instead of SMS messages, asking you to verify certain transactions or account changes

To link your device to your Macquarie ID:

  1. Open the Macquarie Authenticator app on your phone or device 
  2. Tap on Set up Authenticator
  3. Select and confirm a six-digit PIN you can use to log in to Macquarie Authenticator (this will be different to your mobile banking pin)


4. Choose if you’d like to log in to Macquarie Authenticator using facial recognition (for iOS devices) or fingerprint recognition (for Android devices). Or tap on Skip if you would rather log in with a 6-digit pin.

 
  1. Once you’re logged in, you can link your device to your Macquarie ID. Depending on the type of Macquarie account(s) you have, you can choose to:
     
    • Set up manually (available for Personal, Adviser or Business accounts) 
    • Scan a QR code in Macquarie Online Banking (available for Personal, Adviser or Business accounts)
    • Set up with the Macquarie Mobile Banking app (available for Personal accounts only)

Set up manually

  1. On the 'Add your Macquarie ID' screen' tap on Add manually
     
 

2. Enter your Macquarie ID (or Macquarie username) and password

  1. Go to Step 3 to continue

Scan QR code

  1. On the 'Add your Macquarie ID screen' tap on Add with Macquarie QR code


2. On the 'Generate QR code' screen, tap on Scan Macquarie QR code 
3. On your desktop, log in to Macquarie Online Banking
4. Locate the QR code on the Dashboard banner, or:

  • Click on Settings menu and select Security Settings
     
 
  • Click on Activate with QR code located on the Macquarie apps tile
     


5. Scan the QR code with your Authenticator app scanner
 


6. Go to Step 3 to continue

Set up with Macquarie Mobile Banking app

Latest version of Macquarie Mobile Banking app must be installed on the device for this option to be enabled.

  1. On the 'Add your Macquarie ID screen' screen, tap on Add with Macquarie app
     


2. When redirected to the Macquarie Mobile Banking app login with:

  • your 6-digit PIN or
  • facial or fingerprint recognition

3. When redirected back to the Macquarie Authenticator app, go to Step 3 to continue

Step 3: Finalise set up

  1. Click Confirm on the 'Important Information' screen
  2. Click Next
  3. Enter the SMS safe code that has been sent to your mobile (If you already have registered Macquarie Authenticator on another device, you will be asked to verify from that device)

 

  1. If this is the first time installing Macquarie Authenticator you will be prompted to:
  • enable push notifications (tap on Allow). If you click ‘Don’t Allow’, you won’t be able to receive notifications from Macquarie Authenticator on your device.
  • review a training simulator. 

 

  1. Click Done


Once the setup process is complete, your device will automatically receive actionable push notifications when prompted to verify actions or account changes.

Link multiple Macquarie IDs to the same device

If you’ve already downloaded the Macquarie Authenticator app from your app store, you can link multiple Macquarie IDs to the same app.   

  1. Log in to the Macquarie Authenticator app   
  2. Select Menu 
  3. Select Add new   
  4. Add your new Macquarie ID and Password and log in.

Install Macquarie Authenticator on multiple devices

You will need to add your Macquarie ID on each device and verify through other Macquarie Authenticator apps that you have already registered.
