Changes to cash and cheques

We’re making some important changes to our cash and cheque services across all our banking products, between January 2024 and November 2024.

From November 2024, we will stop offering cheque services across all our banking products. For more information regarding the changes we've made to cheque services, including how you can securely make payments digitally, visit our support page.

How to deposit cheques

You can deposit cheques and cash into your Macquarie Business Banking account via selected NAB branches across Australia.

To do this, you will need to complete a deposit slip, available at NAB branches, and provide the following details:

  • Paid in by
  • Phone number
  • Signature
  • Number of cheques
  • Account holder name
  • BSB, Account number
  • Cheque total
  • Total amount of cash and cheques.

Please note, the cheque must be in the same name as the account holder. If it’s not, it’ll be rejected by NAB. If you need to deposit a cheque with a different account holder name, you’ll need to ask us to set up a Third Party Cheque Indemnity. Please reach out to your relationship manager for more information.

Cheque clearance times

Bank cheques are not automatically cleared funds. The proceeds of a deposit via cheque may not be available for up to three business days after the deposit is made, and it will usually take three business days for a cheque to clear.

You cannot withdraw funds deposited into your account by way of a cheque until the cheque has cleared.
