What is enquiry authority?

Enquiry authority allows a third party to have access to information about your client’s account, including their account data.

Your client can appoint a third party on their Cash Management Account (CMA) during the CMA application process or via a Third-Party Authority (TPA) form.

A third party appointed with enquiry authority can view your client’s account details (BSB, account number, and account name), account balance and transaction history.

Enquiry authority doesn’t allow third parties to authorise payments from the account, changes to the account details or close the account.

Why is Macquarie replicating enquiry authorities?

We’ve received feedback from clients and advisers that clients’ cash deposits aren’t fully visible to their secondary brokers without enquiry authorities on the clients’ Accelerator accounts.

We’re replicating existing enquiry authorities on your client’s CMA so authorised third parties can have access to their Accelerator account information and ensure data feeds in your wealth ecosystem are complete and accurate.

New enquiry authority added to linked CMA

When a new enquiry authority is added to their linked CMA, our client will need to complete a Third Party Authority (TPA) form to appoint additional third parties on their cash accounts.

There are two versions of the form, one to appoint a Financial Services Professional or Company and another to appoint other Individuals.

Enquiry authorities added to your client’s linked CMA will be replicated onto their Macquarie Cash Management Accelerator Account (Accelerator).

In the TPA form, your client can appoint third parties with Limited Funds Transfer Authority on the Accelerator account. This allows authorised third parties to transfer funds interchangeably between the client’s CMA and Accelerator account.

Remove enquiry authority

The enquiry authorities on your client’s Macquarie Cash Management Accelerator Account (Accelerator) is synchronised with the linked CMA. You or your client can remove existing enquiry authorities by removing them from the linked CMA.

To remove any third parties from having enquiry access, please email us at adviser@macquarie.com with an instruction to remove the third party/entity from the CMA and Accelerator account. Please provide the relevant account number/s in this instruction so we can action this quickly for you.
